Sideline 2: Baguio Food Crawler (1st Stop)
HR
duties led me to the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City last April 24, 2015. After accomplishing my HR mission, I had an ample time for a quick sideline: Food Crawler!

Stop: ZOLA CAFÉ & RESTAURANT
Cozy and laid-back ambiance inside Zola Cafe & Restaurant
ZOLA Café
& Restaurant can be easily spotted along the long strip of restaurants and
commercial establishments in Session Road, Baguio City.
At night,
this place is crowded by people who wanted to have a share of ice cold drinks
and alcoholic beverages with their peers. In the morning, a number of guests having a
sip of ZOLA’s bestselling unlimited brewed coffee will be sighted.
The evening
and morning scenario in this place is very contrasting. The former having a
buzzing and animated atmosphere due to the loud music and (some) intoxicated
guests. The latter on the other hand, having a serene and toned-down feel.
I had breakfast & lunch in this place and the experience was surprisingly good.
One, the general
ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy thanks to the charming and intricately
designed drop lights inside the restaurant.

The vibrant orange colour of the couches
and the modernistic ceiling decoration also added to the total laid-back feel of this restaurant.
Price of ZOLA’s breakfast meals ranges from 90 to 200 for meals. And that is a set already with
unlimited coffee (and unlimited doze of sugar and cream of course). Here are
some of the breakfast meals I tried:
1.French Connection: Composed of four slices of
cinnamon-dusted French toasts paired with crunchily fried bacon; Garnished with
two slices of cucumber. The French-toasts were really great. The loaves are not
too crunchy and not too soggy. Just right softness that when you bite along
with a sip of their brewed coffee, it will slowly melt. Nothing extraordinary
with the bacon. But the serving was larger than usual serving size of breakfast
restaurants in Manila.
2.Sausage Breakfast Meal: As the name says, this meal is composed of sunny side up / scrambled eggs, 2 pieces medium-sized sausage and garlic rice. Nothing fancy about this meal. But if you will consider the fact that it is just 85php, I would rate value for money as 10/10.
3. Brewed Coffee: For 55php you can have an unlimited
brewed coffee from ZOLA. Perfect for the chilling temperature in Baguio. Of
course, unlimited creamer and sugar go with this. I had two cups of brewed
coffee but I feel like I could have drunk more if only we’re not in a tight
schedule that time.
I committed a mortal sin for not taking pictures of these meals. I was too
excited to grab a bite of these meals. Will try to add the pictures of these meals on my next trip to Baguio this June ;)
ZOLA also offers wide selections of meals for lunch: from meat to vegetable to pasta and to pizza. Here are some of the food they serve for lunch:
4. Herbed Porkchop: Served with fresh lettuce salad with
lemon dressing, this meal is reasonably good. The serving size is huge and can actually be shared by two persons. Plating and garnishing of this meal is not that fancy but the dayap definitely made this meal look more delectable.
Savory herbed pork chop with lettuce salad in lemon dressing for only 125php.
5. Chunky Chili Chicken: Spiciness of this meal perfectly complimented the chilling weather of Baguio. Similar with the herbed porkchop, this meal is also served with greens on the side. The sauce of this meal is really yummy because it's tomato-based! (I'm a sucker for tomatoes. Haha.)
Spicy food + Chilling weather = Perfect gustatory experience! Chunky chili chicken for only 125php
Chilling weather + Oreo Milk Shake = Brain Freeze!
Choco-Vanilla Milk Shake, 85ph
Chilling cheers from Baguio,
Vhie
