Sideline 2: Baguio Food Crawler (2nd Stop)
(Continuation)
HR
duties
led me to the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City last April
24, 2015. After accomplishing my HR mission, I had an ample time for a
quick sideline: Food Crawler :)
2nd
Stop: CAFÉ BY THE RUINS
I’ve
been in Baguio for around ten times already but never had the chance to visit
this famous coffee shop. So I grabbed my free time to check out this place.
The
name
of the shop accurately captures the overall feel on this restaurant.
Ruined in a positive way. Remnants of CHBs of the old structure are
visible. Dilapidated wood accents are scattered all around the
restaurant. This place reminded me that not all ruined things are
distasteful.
There
is a gigantic mural artwork facing the entrance of the restaurant that
strengthened the artsy feel inside the restaurant. There are two floor levels
where guests could stay. Over all, the area is small but nonetheless
intimate: perfect for romantic getaways <3
| Cafe by the Ruins is a sure hit for the foodies + art lovers. Look at that masterpiece! |
Actually, I went here just to try the best selling Ruin’s Coffee. I did not order any meal. Just the coffee. And it was worth the visit.
1. Ruin’s Coffee: Served with white tira tira (sweetener), this strong coffee is a must try. But I do not recommend this to sideliners who have low tolerance for caffeine as you might feel some palpitations after finishing a cup. Yes, it is that strong that you might need to dilute it with additional hot water to neutralize its "kick".
First sip of this coffee and I already loved it. It's consistency is thick and viscous. And there's a perfect balance of bitter and sweet. And the aroma: invigorating.
You can also add muscovado sugar on your Ruin's Coffee as your taste buds please.
PS: I will be posting the remaining three (3) restaurant stops I visited as a food crawler in a few days :)
